Quick answer
Yes. Holders of a valid 2-year Dubai property investor visa can sponsor their spouse and eligible children, provided the property still qualifies and the relationship and housing documents are in order. Since July 2026, co-owners cannot combine portfolios, so with a jointly owned home it is often simplest for one spouse to hold the investor visa and sponsor the other.
Buying in Dubai can give your whole family residence, not just you. The 2-year property investor visa includes the right to sponsor family, but the 2026 rule changes mean details matter.
About the 2-year investor visa
It is a renewable residence visa for owners of completed property registered with the Dubai Land Department. Applications go through the DLD's investor residence service, with GDRFA issuing the final permit.
- Valid for two years and renewable while you own the property
- No employer or local sponsor needed
- Family sponsorship included
- Completed property with a DLD title deed — off-plan units do not qualify for this route
- Dubai property only
The 2026 changes that affect couples
Sole owners no longer need a minimum value, while joint owners each need a share worth at least 400,000. From July 2026, co-owners and couples can no longer merge assets to qualify — each applicant must qualify alone.
If you own one property together, do not assume you both qualify. One spouse holding the visa and sponsoring the other is usually the cleanest route.
What you need to sponsor your spouse
- Attested marriage certificate (translated into Arabic if needed)
- Spouse's passport and photo
- Your valid investor visa and Emirates ID
- Health insurance for your spouse
- Proof of address in the UAE
After approval
Your spouse completes the medical test and Emirates ID biometrics, and the residence is issued linked to your file.
