Can you transfer your Golden Visa to a new passport?

Your passport is the travel document; the visa lives in the ICP database. Changing the booklet is an administrative update.

Quick answer

There is nothing to transfer. Since 2022 UAE residence is an electronic record linked to your Emirates ID and biometrics, not a passport sticker. When you renew or replace your passport, or take a new nationality, you update your passport details with ICP or GDRFA. The visa keeps its validity and you do not pay the full Golden Visa fee again.

Renewed passport, same nationality

Update the passport details online with ICP or GDRFA. Your validity does not reset and you keep the same Emirates ID number.

Lost or stolen passport

Report the loss, get a replacement from your embassy, then update the record. Do this before travelling, because airport systems check the current passport against your file.

New nationality

If you change nationality, update your file with the new passport and nationality details. Some cases may require additional review.

What to prepare

  • New passport copy
  • Old passport copy or police report if lost
  • Emirates ID
  • Recent photo

Travel tip
