Advice

Eligibility review

An honest read on whether your circumstances qualify before you spend time on a claim.

2How a claim works

From last working day to money in the bank.

Miss the 30-day window and the claim is closed — the timeline matters more than the paperwork.

  1. 01

    Termination confirmed

Your employer ends the contract for reasons outside your control. Keep the termination letter and your final settlement.

  2. 02

    Eligibility checked

12 consecutive months of subscription, no unpaid premiums, and a genuine involuntary loss of employment.

  3. 03

    Claim submitted

Filed within 30 days of the last working day through the ILOE channels, with bank details and supporting documents.

  4. 04

    Assessment

The insurance pool verifies employment records with MOHRE and confirms your category and average basic salary.

  5. 05

    Payment

Approved claims are paid within about two weeks, then monthly for up to three months or until you start a new job.

3What you need

Have these ready and the claim moves.

Everything is digital — no typing centre, no queue.

Emirates ID number

The only thing we need to run a free status and fine check.

Termination letter

Confirming the contract ended for reasons other than resignation or misconduct.

Last 6 payslips

Used to establish your average basic salary — the figure the 60% benefit is based on.

IBAN

A UAE bank account in your own name for the monthly benefit payment.

Passport & visa copy

Residency must still be valid when the claim is filed.

Labour contract

MOHRE contract showing the basic salary and start date used for the 12-month test.

4Who is covered

Subscription is compulsory — with a few exemptions.

Most people working in the UAE must subscribe, regardless of nationality or job title.

Private-sector employees

Compulsory for almost all staff on a MOHRE contract.

Federal-government employees

Compulsory, on the same category and premium structure.

Investors & owners

Exempt — people who own the business they work in.

Domestic workers

Exempt from the scheme entirely.

Under-18s

Exempt; the scheme applies to adult employees.

Re-employed retirees

Exempt when a pensioner takes up a new job.

5Premiums, caps & fines

The numbers you actually need.

Two categories decide everything — your premium, your cap and your payout.

5

Category A premium

Basic salary up to 16,000 — per month plus VAT.

10

Category B premium

Basic salary above 16,000 — per month plus VAT.

10,000

Category A benefit cap

Maximum monthly payout for Category A.

20,000

Category B benefit cap

Maximum monthly payout for Category B.

400

Non-subscription fine

For failing to subscribe by your deadline.

200

Arrears fine

For not paying premiums for more than three months.

Benefit is 60% of average basic salary over the last six months, for up to three months per claim, subject to the category cap. Premiums exclude VAT. Figures are the official ILOE scheme rates for 2026.

6Two categories

Category A vs Category B.

Your basic salary — not your gross package — decides which one you fall into.

Category A

Basic up to 16,000

AED 5 per month + VAT

  • Monthly benefit capped at AED 10,000
  • 60% of average basic salary over 6 months
  • Up to 3 months of payments per claim
  • Annual payment option is the simplest to keep current
Category B

Basic above 16,000

AED 10 per month + VAT

  • Monthly benefit capped at AED 20,000
  • 60% of average basic salary over 6 months
  • Up to 3 months of payments per claim
  • Same 12-month subscription requirement to claim

Plain answers

If you are not eligible, we say so straight away instead of filing a claim that fails.

People treat ILOE as a five-dirham formality until a AED 400 fine stops a work permit. Check your status once, pay annually, and it never becomes a problem.

ILOE (Involuntary Loss of Employment) is the UAE's mandatory unemployment-insurance scheme, compulsory for most private-sector and federal employees since 2023. It costs AED 5 or AED 10 a month depending on your basic salary, and pays 60% of that salary for up to three months if you lose your job through no fault of your own. We check your subscription status and any outstanding fines by Emirates ID, register you if you are not covered, and prepare a claim if you have just been let go.

Who must subscribe

Subscription is compulsory for most employees in the private sector and the federal government, regardless of nationality or contract type.

  • Private-sector and federal-government employees must subscribe
  • Investors and business owners who own their own firm are exempt
  • Domestic workers, temporary-contract workers and under-18s are exempt
  • Retirees who have taken up a new job are exempt

Premiums and categories

Two categories, based on your basic salary — not your gross package. Premiums can be paid monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually, and the annual option is the cheapest to administer.

  • Category A — basic salary up to AED 16,000: AED 5 per month plus VAT
  • Category B — basic salary above AED 16,000: AED 10 per month plus VAT
  • Payment channels include the ILOE portal, app, kiosks, exchange houses and telecom bills

Fines for non-compliance

Missing the deadline is expensive relative to the premium, and unpaid amounts follow you into your next job.

  • AED 400 for failing to subscribe by your deadline
  • AED 200 for not paying premiums for more than three months
  • Unpaid amounts can be deducted from salary or end-of-service benefits
  • Outstanding fines can block a new work permit or a residency renewal

How the claim works

The benefit is 60% of your average basic salary over the six months before unemployment, capped at AED 10,000 per month for Category A and AED 20,000 for Category B, for a maximum of three months per claim.

  • At least 12 consecutive months of subscription before the claim
  • The job loss must be involuntary — not resignation or dismissal for cause
  • Claim within 30 days of your last working day
  • Payment is made within two weeks of claim approval
